We are thrilled to announce a new chapter in our organization’s journey with the appointment of our new Executive Director, Spencer Phillips. With his impressive track record in community development, artistic programming, and a deep commitment to inclusive creative expression, we are confident that Spencer will take our organization to new heights.
Spencer Phillips brings over 16 years of invaluable experience in cultivating community programs, orchestrating dynamic cultural events and festivals, and overseeing various creative hubs within the Greater Toronto area. His wealth of knowledge in the arts, paired with his dedication to fostering community engagement, makes him a perfect fit for our organization’s mission.
Notably, Spencer played a pivotal role in developing program initiatives and community partnerships during his tenure at Artscape Daniels Launchpad. His efforts were aimed at supporting the next generation of creative entrepreneurs, which aligns perfectly with our mission to empower individuals in underserved communities to explore and express their creative potential.
His work in the community goes beyond just one role. Spencer has managed Artscape Weston Common, a cultural hub situated in Central West Toronto, and has overseen programming and communications at UrbanArts, a Local Arts Service Organization that provides opportunities for diverse cultural expression, artistic development, and employment to members of urban communities.
Furthermore, Spencer currently serves as a Director on the Board of SKETCH Working Arts and AfroWaveTO, solidifying his deep commitment to working collaboratively with culturally diverse and underserved communities to ensure greater access to arts and culture. His involvement in these organizations reflects his belief in the power of the arts to transform lives and create opportunities for all.
We look forward to what we will achieve together under his guidance. Please join us in welcoming Spencer Phillips to our organization. Together, we’ll continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve and the communities we are proud to be a part of. π¨πβ¨
